Punta Cana.- The inaugural Summit of Latin American Councilors gathered over 500 councilors and local leaders from 33 Latin American countries. Running until November 2, the summit covers five crucial aspects of municipal development. They discuss the improvement of local legislative bodies, fostering sustainable urban development, driving climate action, promoting innovation in public management, and encouraging global cooperation. Through conferences and panels, they aim to provide practical tools and form alliances to enhance the urban management and quality of life in Latin American cities.
The summit will conclude with a Final Declaration. It’s a document outlining collective commitments and a future vision for Latin American cities. It will stress councilors’ dedication to constructing sustainable and inclusive communities via transparent and resilient municipal leadership.
Organized by the Dominican Association of Vocals (ADOVA), in alliance with the Dominican Municipal League (LMD), the Dominican Federation of Municipal Districts (FEDODIM), and the Latin American Federation of Cities, Municipalities, and Municipal Associations (FLACMA), the summit aims to bolster municipal governance and develop a shared agenda to tackle regional urban difficulties.
