Punta Cana.- Over 500 councilors and local leaders from 33 countries in Latin America are in Punta Cana for the first-ever Summit of Latin American Councilors. The summit, scheduled until November 2, centers on five main areas in municipal development. These are local legislative bodies’ enhancement, sustainable urban development, climate action acceleration, innovation in public management promoting, and global cooperation nurturing. Through various activities such as conferences, panels, and round-table discussions, participants will learn practical tools and also form partnerships to upgrade urban management and inhabitants’ life quality in their respective cities.
A Final Declaration, outlining the collective commitments and vision for Latin American cities’ future, will conclude summit. This document will highlight councilors’ commitment to creating sustainable and inclusive communities through resilient, transparent municipal leadership.
The summit, organized by the Dominican Association of Vocals (ADOVA), Dominican Municipal League (LMD), Dominican Federation of Municipal Districts (FEDODIM), and the Latin American Federation of Cities, Municipalities, and Municipal Associations (FLACMA), has the objective of reinforcing municipal governance and setting a communal agenda for regional urban challenges.
