Punta Cana.- The inaugural Summit of Latin American Councilors is attended by over 500 councilors and local leaders from 33 countries. Running until November 2, the summit covers topics such as local legislative improvements, sustainable urban growth, climate action, public management innovation, and global cooperation. It aims to give councilors practical tools and promote alliances to enhance urban management and life quality in Latin American cities.
The summit will culminate in the Final Declaration. This document outlines the joint commitments and vision for Latin American cities’ future, focusing on the councilors’ commitment to establish sustainable, inclusive communities with resilient and transparent municipal leadership.
The Dominican Association of Vocals (ADOVA) organized the summit in conjunction with the Dominican Municipal League (LMD), the Dominican Federation of Municipal Districts (FEDODIM), and the Latin American Federation of Cities, Municipalities and Municipal Associations (FLACMA). The summit aims at boosting municipal governance and setting a common agenda to tackle regional urban challenges.
