Punta Cana.- Over 500 local leaders from 33 countries in Latin America are in Punta Cana for the first-ever Summit of Latin American Councilors. The event lasts until November 2. The summit will focus on five crucial aspects of municipal development. These are improving local legislative bodies, sustainable urban growth, climate action, innovation in public management, and global cooperation. It comprises conferences, panels and round tables. Its objective is to give councilors practical resources and encourage alliances to enhance management and life quality in Latin cities.
The summit will end with a Final Declaration. This document will outline the collective commitments and vision for Latin American cities. It will highlight the councilors’ commitment to creating sustainable, inclusive societies via transparent, resilient city leadership.
The Dominican Association of Vocals (ADOVA), the Dominican Municipal League (LMD), the Dominican Federation of Municipal Districts (FEDODIM) and the Latin American Federation of Cities, Municipalities and Municipal Associations (FLACMA) organized the summit. The aim is to boost municipal governance and create a joint agenda to tackle urban issues in the region.
