Punta Cana.- Over 500 local leaders from 33 Latin American countries have convened in Punta Cana. They are attending the first-ever Summit of Latin American Councilors, which lasts until November 2. The focus areas of this summit include enhancing local legislative bodies and promoting sustainable urban growth. Other areas are driving climate action and innovation in public management, as well as fostering international cooperation. Various mediums, such as conferences and round tables, are used to impart practical skills and encourage alliances. The goal is to improve the management of urban life in Latin American cities.
The summit concludes with a Final Declaration. It outlines the shared visions and commitments for Latin America’s urban future. This Declaration underscores the councilors’ commitment to establish resilient municipal leadership. It also supports the creation of inclusive and sustainable societies.
The Dominican Association of Vocals (ADOVA) has organized the summit. It has partnered with the Dominican Municipal League (LMD), the Dominican Federation of Municipal Districts (FEDODIM) and FLACMA. The aim is to bolster municipal governance and compile a common agenda addressing regional urban challenges.
