Punta Cana.- Over 500 councilors from 33 Latin American countries gathered in Punta Cana for the first Summit of Latin American Councilors until November 2. The main focus areas include advancing local legislative bodies, supporting sustainable urban development, driving climate change actions, promoting innovation in public management and encouraging global cooperation. The summit provides practical tools and encourages alliances for improved urban management and quality of life in Latin American cities.
The summit ends with a Final Declaration outlining shared commitments and the vision for Latin American cities. It underscores the councilors’ dedication to creating sustainable, inclusive communities through transparent, resilient municipal leadership.
The Dominican Association of Vocals (ADOVA), the Dominican Municipal League (LMD), the Dominican Federation of Municipal Districts (FEDODIM) and the Latin American Federation of Cities, Municipalities and Municipal Associations (FLACMA) organized the summit. The aim is to reinforce municipal governance and create a shared agenda to tackle regional urban challenges.
