Punta Cana.- In Punta Cana, over 500 councilors from 33 Latin American countries gather for the Summit of Latin American Councilors till November 2. The focus of the summit revolves around improving local legislative bodies, promoting sustainable growth, inspiring climate action, innovating public management, and encouraging global cooperation. The idea is to provide tools for councilors to enhance urban living standards in Latin American cities.
The summit will culminate with a ‘Final Declaration’. This document will detail the commitments and vision for Latin American cities. It will underline councilors’ focus on creating transparent, resilient, sustainable, and inclusive societies.
The Dominican Association of Vocals (ADOVA) organized the summit, together with the Dominican Municipal League (LMD), The Dominican Federation of Municipal Districts (FEDODIM), and the Latin American Federation of Cities, Municipalities, and Municipal Associations (FLACMA). The goal is to boost municipal governance and develop a unified agenda to tackle urban challenges in the region.
