Punta Cana.- The inaugural Summit of Latin American Councilors has started in Punta Cana. It has attracted over 500 councilors and local leaders from 33 countries. The summit, run until November 2, covers five vital areas of municipal development. This includes improving local legislative bodies, promoting sustainable urban growth, and driving climate action. Also, promoting innovation in public management, fostering global cooperation are covered. Such topics will be discussed in conferences, panels, and round tables. The goal is to provide practical tools for councilors and encourage alliances for better urban management and life quality.
The Final Declaration will wrap up the summit. It sets out collective commitments and the future vision for Latin American cities. Councilors’ dedication to construct sustainable, inclusive communities through transparent, resilient municipal leadership is highlighted.
The Dominican Association of Vocals (ADOVA), in alliance with the Dominican Municipal League (LMD), the Dominican Federation of Municipal Districts (FEDODIM), and the Latin American Federation of Cities, Municipalities and Municipal Associations (FLACMA), organized the summit. Its goal is to enhance municipal governance and create a shared agenda to tackle regional urban challenges.
