Punta Cana.- Over 500 councilors and local leaders from 33 Latin American countries are attending the first Summit of Latin American Councilors in Punta Cana. The summit, which ends on November 2, highlights five areas: local legislative improvement, sustainable urban growth, climate action, innovation in public management and global cooperation. It strives to equip councilors with useful tools and build alliances to enhance urban management and life quality in Latin American cities.
The summit will conclude with a Final Declaration. This document outlines the shared commitments and future vision for Latin American cities. It highlights the councilors’ commitment to building sustainable, inclusive communities through transparent and resilient municipal leadership.
The Dominican Association of Vocals (ADOVA), Dominican Municipal League (LMD), Dominican Federation of Municipal Districts (FEDODIM), and Latin American Federation of Cities, Municipalities and Municipal Associations (FLACMA) have organized the summit. It aims to enhance municipal governance and set a common agenda to tackle regional urban problems.
