Punta Cana.- Over 500 councilors from 33 Latin American countries are in Punta Cana. They are participating in the first ever Summit of Latin American Councilors ending on November 2. The summit targets five municipal development areas: enhancement of local legislative bodies, urban growth, climate change, innovation in public management, and fostering global cooperation. The goal is to provide councilors the necessary tools and create alliances to improve the quality of life in Latin American cities.
The summit concludes with the release of the Final Declaration. This document outlines the collective commitments and future vision of Latin American cities. It emphasizes councilors’ dedication to creating sustainable and inclusive communities through transparent and resilient leadership.
The Dominican Association of Vocals (ADOVA), the Dominican Municipal League (LMD), the Dominican Federation of Municipal Districts (FEDODIM), and the Latin American Federation of Cities, Municipalities and Municipal Associations (FLACMA) are the organizers of the summit. The goal is to bolster municipal governance and tackle regional urban challenges through shared agenda.
