Punta Cana.- The inaugural Summit of Latin American Councilors has gathered over 500 local leaders from 33 Latin American countries. It will continue until November 2. The summit has five key focus areas: strengthening local legislatures, encouraging sustainable urban development, pushing for climate action, supporting innovation in public management, and enhancing global collaboration. The goal is to equip councilors with practical resources and build partnerships to enhance urban governance and living conditions in Latin American cities.
The summit will announce a final declaration outlining the shared commitments and future vision of Latin American cities. The councilors’ dedication to creating sustainable, inclusive communities through transparent and resilient leadership will be highlighted.
Organizers include the Dominican Association of Vocals (ADOVA), Dominican Municipal League (LMD), Dominican Federation of Municipal Districts (FEDODIM), and the Latin American Federation of Cities, Municipalities and Municipal Associations (FLACMA). The summit aims at enhancing municipal governance and establishing a shared agenda to tackle urban challenges in the region.
