Punta Cana.- Over 500 councilors and local leaders from 33 Latin American countries are gathering in Punta Cana for the first Summit of Latin American Councilors, which ends on November 2. The conference emphasizes five essential municipal development areas: enhancing local legislative bodies, promoting sustainable urban growth, driving climate action, fostering innovative public administration, and encouraging global cooperation. Through lectures, panels, and discussions, it aims to equip councilors with practical tools and form alliances to enhance urban management and life quality in Latin American cities.
In the summit’s conclusion, a Final Declaration will be announced. This statement will detail collective pledges and future vision for Latin American cities. It will underscore councilors’ commitment to creating sustainable, inclusive societies via transparent, resilient local government.
The summit is organized by the Dominican Association of Vocals (ADOVA), in alliance with the Dominican Municipal League (LMD), the Dominican Federation of Municipal Districts (FEDODIM), and the Latin American Federation of Cities, Municipalities, and Municipal Associations (FLACMA). Its primary goal is to fortify municipal governance and lay out a joint agenda to confront regional urban issues.
