Punta Cana.- The inaugural Summit of Latin American Councilors has begun in Punta Cana. Over 500 councilors and local leaders from 33 Latin American countries are attending it. Running until November 2, the summit is highlighting improvements in local legislative bodies and sustainable urban growth. Its goal is climate action, promoting innovation, and fostering international cooperation for improving urban life quality in Latin American cities.
The summit will wrap up with the Final Declaration. This document outlines collective commitments and councilors’ vision for the future of Latin American cities. It will stress building sustainable, inclusive communities through resilient municipal leadership.
The Dominican Association of Vocals (ADOVA) has organized the summit in partnership with the Dominican Municipal League (LMD), the Dominican Federation of Municipal Districts (FEDODIM), and the Latin American Federation of Cities, Municipalities, and Municipal Associations (FLACMA). Its aim is to boost municipal governance and develop a joint agenda to tackle regional urban challenges.
