Punta Cana.- The inaugural Summit of Latin American Councilors in Punta Cana has attracted over 500 local leaders from 33 countries. The summit, which goes on until November 2, focuses on five primary areas of municipal development. It aims to foster improvements in local legislative bodies, promote sustainable urban growth and climate action, drive public management and global cooperation. This is achieved through workshops, sessions and alliances to enhance urban management and life quality in Latin American cities.
The summit will end with a Final Declaration, outlining the collective action plans and vision for Latin American cities’ future. It will underscore the councilors’ commitment to building sustainable and inclusive communities via transparent municipal leadership.
The Dominican Association of Vocals (ADOVA), in alliance with the Dominican Municipal League (LMD), the Dominican Federation of Municipal Districts (FEDODIM) and the Latin American Federation of Cities, Municipalities and Municipal Associations (FLACMA), organizes the summit. The main objective is to enhance municipal governance and set a cooperative agenda for urban challenges in the region.
