Punta Cana.- The Summit of Latin American Councilors is happening in Punta Cana. The event has attracted over 500 councilors and local leaders from 33 Latin American countries. It will run until November 2.
The aim of the summit is to improve urban management and quality of life in Latin American cities. They plan to accomplish this by focusing on five key areas. These are improving local legislative bodies, sustainable urban growth, climate action, innovation in public management, and global cooperation.
In addition, the event has various activities in the form of conferences, panels, and round tables. The idea is to equip the councilors with practical tools and establish beneficial alliances.
The summit ends with a Final Declaration. This document outlines their commitments and vision for Latin American cities. It stresses a dedication to building sustainable, inclusive communities with transparent and resilient municipal leadership.
The event is organized by The Dominican Association of Vocals (ADOVA), Dominican Municipal League (LMD), Dominican Federation of Municipal Districts (FEDODIM), and the Latin American Federation of Cities, Municipalities and Municipal Associations (FLACMA). Its goal is to enhance municipal governance. To establish a shared agenda that tackles regional urban issues.
