Punta Cana- The inaugural Summit of Latin American Councilors has begun. Over 500 councilors and local leaders from 33 nations are present. The summit runs until November 2. It focuses on five primary areas of municipal development. These areas include sustainable urban growth, local legislative bodies, climate action, innovation in public management, and global cooperation. Roundtables, panels, and conferences are providing valuable information and tools. The aim is to enhance urban life and management in Latin American cities.
The summit will issue a Final Declaration. It outlines the collective commitments and vision for future Latin American cities. It will highlight councilors’ dedication to creating inclusive communities through resilient and transparent leadership.
The Dominican Association of Vocals (ADOVA) organized the summit. They collaborated with the Dominican Municipal League (LMD), the Dominican Federation of Municipal Districts (FEDODIM), and the Latin American Federation of Cities, Municipalities and Municipal Associations (FLACMA). The summit’s goal is to enhance municipal governance and set a shared agenda to tackle regional urban issues.
