Punta Cana.- Over 500 councilors and local leaders from 33 Latin American countries are in Punta Cana. They are at the first Summit of Latin American Councilors. The event runs until November 2. The summit covers five areas of municipal development. These are local legislative body improvement, sustainable urban growth, climate action, public management innovation, and promoting global cooperation. The summit aims to offer practical tools to councilors. It wants to promote alliances to enhance urban management and improve life quality in Latin American cities.
The summit ends with a Final Declaration. It’s a document outlining shared commitments and vision for Latin American cities. The statement underscores councilors’ commitment to creating sustainable and inclusive communities. They aim to do it with transparent and strong municipal leadership.
The Dominican Association of Vocals (ADOVA), in collaboration with the Dominican Municipal League (LMD), the Dominican Federation of Municipal Districts (FEDODIM), and the Latin American Federation of Cities, Municipalities, and Municipal Associations (FLACMA), organized the summit. Its goal is to fortify municipal leadership. It also strives to create a shared agenda to tackle regional urban challenges.
