Punta Cana.- Over 500 councilors and local leaders from 33 Latin American countries are attending the first Summit of Latin American Councilors in Punta Cana. The summit, set to end on November 2, focuses on enhancing municipal development in key areas. These include empowering local legislatures, promoting sustainable urban growth, spearheading climate initiatives, encouraging public management innovation, and boosting global cooperation. With a host of conferences, panels, and discussion circles, the summit aims to provide essential tools and foster meaningful alliances to better urban management and life quality within Latin American cities.
The summit finale will involve a Final Declaration. This document will outline the collective commitments and vision for our future Latin American cities. It will underscore councilors’ resolve to create sustainable, inclusive communities via transparent and robust municipal leadership.
The Dominican Association of Vocals (ADOVA), in partnership with the Dominican Municipal League (LMD), the Dominican Federation of Municipal Districts (FEDODIM), and the Latin American Federation of Cities, Municipalities, and Municipal Associations (FLACMA), has organized the summit. The goal is to fortify municipal governance and build a shared agenda addressing regional urban issues.
