Punta Cana.- The inaugural Summit of Latin American Councilors is happening in Punta Cana. Over 500 councilors and local leaders from 33 Latin American countries are participating. The summit lasts until November 2. It discusses ways to improve legislative bodies at the local level, promote sustainable urban growth, drive climate action, foster innovation in public management, and encourage global cooperation. The aim is to equip councilors with practical tools and form alliances for better urban management and life quality in Latin American cities.
A Final Declaration will signify the summit’s conclusion. This document underscores the councilors’ commitment and vision. The focus is on sustainable, inclusive communities, and transparent, resilient municipal leadership.
The Dominican Association of Vocals (ADOVA), along with Dominican Municipal League (LMD), the Dominican Federation of Municipal Districts (FEDODIM), and the Latin American Federation of Cities, Municipalities, and Municipal Associations (FLACMA) organized the summit. The goal is strengthening municipal governance and setting a common agenda to tackle regional urban challenges.
