Punta Cana.- Over 500 councilors and local leaders from 33 Latin American nations are attending the Summit of Latin American Councilors until November 2. Participants are set to focus on key aspects of municipal development. They aim to improve local legislative bodies, encourage sustainable city growth, drive climate action, promote innovative public management, and cultivate global cooperation. The goal is to equip councilors with strategies and forge partnerships to enhance city management and life quality in Latin American cities.
The summit will finalize a declaration detailing the collective commitments and future vision for Latin American cities. This document will underscore councilors’ commitment towards transforming communities into sustainable, inclusive spaces via transparent, resilient local leadership.
The Dominican Association of Vocals (ADOVA), in partnership with the Dominican Municipal League (LMD), the Dominican Federation of Municipal Districts (FEDODIM), and the Latin American Federation of Cities, Municipalities and Municipal Associations (FLACMA), has organized this event. The aim is to bolster local governance and create a common platform to tackle regional urban challenges.
