Punta Cana.- Over 500 councilors and local leaders from 33 countries came together at the kickoff Summit of Latin American Councilors in Punta Cana. The event, set to end on November 2, focuses on enhancing municipal development in five crucial areas.
The intent is to improve legislative bodies locally, encourage sustainable urban growth, drive action on climate, advocate innovation in public management, and foster global cooperation. The hope is for councilors to acquire practical tools and build relationships for better urban management and life quality in Latin American cities.
A Final Declaration, outlining future commitments and vision for cities in Latin America, will signify the closing of the summit. This statement will highlight councilors’ commitment to creating transparent, sustainable, and inclusive communities led by resilient municipal leadership.
The Dominican Association of Vocals (ADOVA), in alliance with Dominican Municipal League (LMD), Dominican Federation of Municipal Districts (FEDODIM) and Latin American Federation of Cities, Municipalities and Municipal Associations (FLACMA), organized the summit. The main goal is to fortify municipal governance and construct a unified strategy to tackle urban issues in the region.
