Punta Cana.- Over 500 councilors and local leaders from 33 Latin American countries meet in Punta Cana for the first Latin American Councilors Summit until November 2. The summit focuses on five key municipal development areas. These include enhancing local legislatures, promoting sustainable city growth, driving climate action, encouraging public management innovation, and bolstering global cooperation. The summit strives to equip councilors with practical tools and nurture alliances to boost urban management and living standards in Latin American cities through conferences, panels, and round tables.
The summit will conclude with a Final Declaration. This document will outline the joint commitments and vision for the future of Latin American cities. It will highlight councilors’ commitment to creating sustainable, inclusive communities through transparent, resilient municipal leadership.
The Dominican Association of Vocals (ADOVA) organized the summit, in association with the Dominican Municipal League (LMD), the Dominican Federation of Municipal Districts (FEDODIM), and the Latin American Federation of Cities, Municipalities, and Municipal Associations (FLACMA). The aim is to enhance municipal governance and set common goals to tackle regional urban challenges.
