Punta Cana.- The inaugural Summit of Latin American Councilors is taking place in Punta Cana. More than 500 councilors and local leaders from 33 Latin American countries have gathered here. The summit will run until November 2. Its key focus areas include local legislative bodies, sustainable urban growth, climate action, public management innovation, and global cooperation.
The aim of the summit includes providing practical tools to councilors and fostering alliances. This will enhance urban management and the quality of life in Latin American cities.
A Final Declaration will conclude the summit. It describes the collective commitments and vision for future Latin American cities. Councilors’ dedication to building sustainable, inclusive communities through resilient leadership is emphasized.
The Dominican Association of Vocals (ADOVA), Dominican Municipal League (LMD), Dominican Federation of Municipal Districts (FEDODIM), and Latin American Federation of Cities, Municipalities, and Municipal Associations (FLACMA) have jointly organized the summit. The goal is to strengthen municipal governance and set a shared agenda for tackling regional urban challenges.
