Punta Cana.- Over 500 councilors from 33 Latin American nations are in Punta Cana for the initial Summit of Latin American Councilors. The summit lasts until November 2. Its main focus is municipal development. It intends to enhance local legislative bodies, facilitate sustainable urban growth, lead climate action, encourage public management innovation, and promote global cooperation. It aims to equip councilors and foster alliances using conferences, panels, and round tables. This will hopefully improve Latin American city management and lifestyle quality.
The summit will wrap up with a Final Declaration. This document outlines everyone’s commitments and blueprint for Latin American city futures. It highlights councilors’ commitment to fostering sustainable and inclusive societies. It emphasizes transparent and resilient municipal governance.
The Dominican Association of Vocals (ADOVA), the Dominican Municipal League (LMD), the Dominican Federation of Municipal Districts (FEDODIM), and the Latin American Federation of Cities, Municipalities, and Municipal Associations (FLACMA) organized the summit. Their goal is municipal governance reinforcement. They want to form a common urban problem-solving strategy in the region.
