Punta Cana.- The inaugural Summit of Latin American Councilors has begun. It is attended by more than 500 councilors and local leaders from 33 Latin American countries. The summit focuses on five pillars of municipal development. These are improvement of local legislative bodies, promotion of sustainable urban growth, drive for climate actions, innovation in public management, and fostering global cooperation. The summit aims to improve the quality of life in Latin American cities through practical learning sessions and fostering alliances.
The summit will end with a Final Declaration. This collective commitment will outline the future vision for Latin American cities. It will focus on building resilient and sustainable communities through transparent leadership.
The Dominican Association of Vocals (ADOVA), the Dominican Municipal League (LMD), and the Latin American Federation of Cities, Municipalities and Municipal Associations (FLACMA) have organized this summit, with the aim of bolstering municipal governance and creating a common agenda to address regional urban challenges.
