73-year-old Spaniard arrested in AIPC with eight packages believed to contain cocaine

SANTO DOMINGO.- Agents from the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD) and members of the Specialized Airport Security Corps, coordinated by the Public Ministry, seized eight packages presumably of cocaine through joint inspection work at the Punta Cana International Airport.

Based on intelligence reports, the acting agents, assisted by canine units, detected alleged narcotic substances inside a suitcase. They immediately initiated the action protocol for these cases.

With a prosecutor present, the luggage was opened. Inside a package with four boxes, containing the eight packages of the substance, was found.

A man of Spanish nationality was arrested in the case. He was traveling from the Punta Cana terminal to the city of Paris, according to his flight itinerary.

The Public Ministry and the DNCD are deepening the investigations into the frustrated international drug trafficking operation. The 73-year-old detainee will be brought to justice in the next few hours for violation of Law 50-88.
