Verón–Punta Cana. — The Office of the President has announced that the upcoming edition of “La Semanal con la Prensa”—the weekly press conference hosted by President Luis Abinader—will take place on Monday, November 10, in Punta Cana, province of La Altagracia.

The event will be held at the Convention Center of the Barceló Bávaro Hotel, bringing together journalists from Santo Domingo and members of the press from the Eastern region of the Dominican Republic.

Government Transparency on the Move

This open media session, known for fostering government transparency and direct dialogue with the press, has become one of the most anticipated weekly events in national communication. Each Monday, President Abinader answers questions from journalists on current affairs, national priorities, and government initiatives.

Over time, “La Semanal con la Prensa” has expanded beyond the National Palace. Similar editions have previously been hosted in San Pedro de Macorís, Montecristi, and Duarte, as part of the administration’s goal to bring the government closer to different regions and communities.

From Santiago to New York: A Traveling Press Initiative

In addition to these visits to interior provinces, “La Semanal” has also been held in Santiago, Santo Domingo Oeste, and even in New York City, where President Abinader engaged directly with members of the Dominican diaspora. More recently, the event took place at the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center in Santo Domingo, showing its commitment to mobility and accessibility.

With Punta Cana now on the schedule, the Presidential Press Office continues to strengthen its open-door policy and regional outreach, recognizing the growing importance of the Eastern region as a hub for tourism, investment, and national development.

Why Punta Cana?

Hosting the press conference in Punta Cana highlights the area’s influence as one of the Dominican Republic’s most dynamic destinations—not just for tourism, but also for its role in the country’s economic growth and international visibility.

By choosing this location, the government seeks to reinforce its presence in the region and engage directly with local media professionals, entrepreneurs, and community leaders.
