Punta Cana, Dominican Republic – After consolidating its name over five years in the Colonial City of Santo Domingo, Hasta La Tambora Lounge is making a major leap to the Eastern region with the opening of its new venue in Downtown Punta Cana, one of the Caribbean’s most active nightlife and entertainment districts.
The arrival in Punta Cana kicked off with two soft opening nights aimed at fine-tuning service and operations, followed by a Grand Opening on December 18, which officially introduced the concept to local residents, international tourists and passionate merengue fans who live in or visit the area.
With this expansion, Hasta La Tambora Punta Cana reinforces its core mission: preserving merengue and celebrating Dominican cultural identity in one of the country’s most important tourist destinations. The lounge is conceived as an adult-focused nightlife space, where guests can dance, mingle and enjoy the warmth and energy of authentic Dominican nightlife in a safe, stylish and welcoming environment.
The new Downtown Punta Cana location features a modern, comfortable and visually striking design, created by JJ Romero Construcciones y Diseño, a firm that adapted the brand’s identity to the dynamics of this growing entertainment hub. The result is a venue that combines club atmosphere with cultural flavor, ideal for nights out with friends, couples or colleagues.
At the bar, the cocktail program stands out as one of Hasta La Tambora’s signatures. Curated by co-founder and mixologist Zarait Marquina, the menu includes signature cocktails inspired by iconic merengue hits, each crafted with premium spirits and fresh, organic ingredients. The idea is to translate the rhythm and history of merengue into the glass, offering drinks that are both creative and rooted in Dominican tradition.
The culinary offer complements the experience with a selection of dishes that pay tribute to local flavors. On the menu, guests will find Villa Mella–style chicharrones, handmade pasteles en hoja, and premium Angus beef burgers, among other favorites—ideal for sharing at the table or enjoying between sets on the dance floor.
Music is at the heart of the concept. The musical direction is led by Grammy-winning producer and musical director Henry Jiménez, founder of Hasta La Tambora and director of Johnny Ventura & El Legado. Under his guidance, the venue showcases live merengue performances, curated playlists and special shows that highlight the genre’s richness, from classics to contemporary arrangements.
On the operations side, businesswoman and co-founder Saire Jiménez is in charge of overseeing the Punta Cana location, ensuring that service, attention to detail and guest experience meet the standards that have defined the brand in Santo Domingo.
With its opening in Downtown Punta Cana, Hasta La Tambora aspires to become a key meeting point for Dominican culture, live merengue and quality nightlife in Punta Cana—offering both locals and visitors a place where they can feel the true heartbeat of Dominican music and nightlife in the heart of the Caribbean.
