Punta Cana tourism growth has been confirmed as the highest in the country, with 3,656,543 tourist arrivals recorded from January to July 2026. This figure places it far ahead of other major airports such as Las Américas International Airport (1,199,392) and Gregorio Luperón International Airport in Puerto Plata (274,021).

The Dominican Republic registered a total of 5,885,025 air passenger arrivals during the first seven months of 2026, a 9.4% increase compared to the same period in 2025. However, the growth in non-resident arrivals was minimal, rising by only 0.65% or 3,828 additional tourists compared to 2025.
Resident travelers primarily entered through Las Américas International Airport, with 391,229 arrivals. Cibao International Airport followed with 95,020, and Punta Cana registered 77,450 resident arrivals. January saw the highest movement of residents, with a notable increase also observed in July.
March was a peak month for Punta Cana and Puerto Plata, while Las Américas experienced a surge in tourist arrivals during July. The data confirms that air transport remains crucial for mobility and tourism in the country. Punta Cana, Las Américas, and Cibao continue to serve as the nation’s primary air hubs.
