Aderes Recognizes Collado for His Contributions to the Country’s Gastronomic Sector

Aderes, the Dominican Restaurant Association, granted an award to the Tourism Minister, David Collado, in acknowledgment of his significant contribution to the restaurant industry and his role in promoting the Sustainable Gastronomic Tourism plan.

The award was given during the third edition of Restaurant Week Punta Cana. The event aimed to celebrate gastronomy and elevate the standard of restaurants in the Punta Cana and Bávaro region.

Aderes’ president, Omar Cepeda, stated that the Gastronomic SDQ 2024 proposal is currently in its second phase. He confirmed that this organization is committed to developing sustainable gastronomic tourism in the country’s most visited tourist area.

“Restaurant Week Punta Cana serves as a platform to showcase what the Dominican Republic has to offer culinarily. It highlights our assortment of high-quality local products and how various cultures influence our culinary traditions, enriching them with diverse flavors and innovative ideas,” explained Cepeda.

David Llibre, the president of Asonahores, emphasized that initiatives like this reaffirm the tourism sector’s commitment to positioning the Dominican Republic as a culinary destination in the region and enhancing the tourism offer.

“The goal of this gastronomic experience is to cultivate a culinary adventure that allows diners to explore our main tourist spots through dishes that showcase local products, prepared by acclaimed chefs and served in historical restaurants of the region,” highlighted Llibre.

During Restaurant Week Punta Cana 2023 awards were handed to the winners. The Dominican Gastronomy Academy recognized the restaurants Maralia, SBG Punta Cana, and Osteria Giorgetta.

Additionally, the establishments Monserrat Manor, La Taberna de Pepe, and SBG Punta Cana were praised by the customers as the best restaurants in Punta Cana. It was noted that Restaurant Week in Punta Cana is taking place from Monday, October 7 until Sunday, October 13.
