Santo Domingo, DR – The Dominican Meteorological Institute (Indomet) reported Saturday that a persistent trough in various layers of the troposphere is generating heavy cloud cover, moderate to intense rainfall, electrical storms, and gusty winds across several provinces of the country.
According to Indomet, the most affected areas include Santo Domingo, San Pedro de Macorís, Monte Plata, Hato Mayor, Monseñor Nouel, and sectors in La Vega, Santiago, Puerto Plata, Azua, San Juan, Elías Piña, and Independencia. As a result, the institute is maintaining green-level weather alerts in five provinces, citing a continued risk of rising rivers and streams, as well as urban and rural flooding.
No provinces have been removed from alert status, and no changes have been issued to the current warnings.

The following areas remain under green alert:
-
Santo Domingo
-
San Pedro de Macorís

The National District
-
Monte Plata
-
Hato Mayor

Indomet advises that showers and thunderstorms will persist through the afternoon and into the early evening, with precipitation gradually decreasing by nightfall.
