Punta Cana.– American Airlines is significantly reinforcing its presence in the Dominican Republic with the introduction of four new nonstop routes from Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) to Indianapolis, Nashville, Pittsburgh, and Raleigh-Durham. With this expansion, the carrier underscores more than five decades of continuous commitment to linking the country with key cities across the United States.

Oliver Bojos, American Airlines’ Regional Operations Manager for the Central Caribbean, stressed that these new routes make Punta Cana “even more accessible” for U.S. travelers. From the airport’s side, Giovanni Rainieri, an executive at Punta Cana International Airport, highlighted that every additional connection helps drive tourism in the region, improve air connectivity, and stimulate the Dominican Republic’s overall economic growth.

The new flights will operate exclusively on Saturdays through April 4, 2026, using Boeing 737 aircraft configured with 172 seats. Thanks to this latest expansion, American Airlines will be able to offer up to 95 weekly flights from Punta Cana to 11 U.S. destinations.

For the upcoming winter season, the airline plans to increase its capacity in Punta Cana by more than 12% and its operations by 13%. Across the country, American will operate more than 162 weekly flights serving its five Dominican destinations. In addition, the carrier is preparing to inaugurate a new route between Philadelphia and Santo Domingo on December 18, 2025, further strengthening air links between the United States and the Dominican Republic.
