Punta Cana, Dominican Republic – The Government of Argentina has granted Dominican low-cost airline Arajet authorization to operate three new direct international routes linking Punta Cana with the cities of Córdoba, Mendoza, and Rosario—eliminating the need for passengers to connect through Buenos Aires. The decision was formalized through Disposition No. 21/2025, published in the Boletín Oficial.

The new routes stem from a bilateral agreement signed in December 2024 between the administration of President Javier Milei and the Dominican Republic, aimed at boosting air connectivity, strengthening regional integration, and expanding opportunities for both tourism and cargo transport.

Arajet currently operates the Punta Cana–Buenos Aires route with ten weekly frequencies from Ezeiza International Airport. With the new approval, travelers from Argentina’s interior will be able to fly directly to the Caribbean, cutting travel times and enhancing the passenger experience.

Argentina remains the Dominican Republic’s third-largest source market for tourists and is projected to close 2025 with 400,000 visitors—up from 272,000 in 2024.

Operating a fleet of 11 Boeing 737 MAX-8 aircraft and serving multiple destinations across the Americas, Arajet continues its international expansion with routes to the United States, Mexico, Central America, and Canada. This latest development underscores the airline’s commitment to offering more regional connections, competitive fares, and efficient service, in line with its goal of becoming the Caribbean’s leading low-cost carrier.
