David Llibre, president of the Hotel and Tourism Association of the Dominican Republic (Asonahores), indicated prior to the start of the International Tourism Fair, Fitur 2024, the importance of this platform to promote the creation of new tourism projects and predicted that this year several of these will start with both local and foreign investments in the country.
Llibre expressed that the support of travel agencies and tour operators has been decisive in maintaining the Dominican Republic as the first option in the Caribbean that is strengthened with proposals aimed at the new trends of the issuing markets.
“Currently the tourism sector is strengthened by the flow of investment diversification, the strengthening of the offer of traditional tourist areas, and the development of innovative projects in new tourist centers such as Miches, Pedernales, and Punta Bergantín,” explained Llibre.
He pointed out that Spain is one of the main countries that send tourists to the Dominican Republic and highlighted the work of travel agencies and tour operators whom he considered strategic partners of the tourism sector.
“The Dominican Republic is not only consolidating itself as a sun and beach destination par excellence, but in the diversification of our offer we have health tourism, sports tourism, adventure tourism, cultural tourism, among others. Always taking care of the highest standards,” said Llibre.
Asonahores specified that they will continue betting on a clear and sustainable structure to compete with other countries in the development of new rooms, with innovative complementary offers and keeping the current tourist proposal updated to continue attracting visitors to our country.
