The president of the Hotel and Tourism Association of the Dominican Republic (Asonahores), David Llibre, reported that by 2024 about 3 thousand rooms will enter the hotel sector.

He said that the majority will be in Santo Domingo, Miches, Bávaro, Punta Cana and Puerto Plata.

He also reported that the tourism sector continues to grow and two projects are already under construction in the community of Miches, as well as in the Province of Puerto Plata.

He also highlighted that Santo Domingo continues to grow, and the inauguration of a hotel complex from an important international chain is expected these days.

In relation to the markets that attract tourists, he understands that it is necessary to continue strengthening Europe, which has seen a reduction in tourists to the Dominican Republic, as a consequence of the wars and the economic crisis.

” It is necessary to continue motivating the European market and strengthening the South American market, especially Colombia and Brazil.
