SANTO DOMINGO. The Reserve Bank has reported that it will participate in the International Tourism Fair (Fitur 2024), which will be held in Madrid from January 24 to 28, with a series of proposals aimed at promoting development and investment in the Dominican Republic.
In a statement, the delegation chaired by the general administrator of the banking institution, Samuel Pereyra, has scheduled several rounds of business with investors linked to the sector, which will take place inside and outside the Ifema fairgrounds.
The project Brigantine Pointin Puerto Plata, and those intended to develop the tourist centers of Miches and Pedernales They will be among the proposals to be highlighted by Banreservas, in coordination with the Ministry of Tourism.
As for Punta Bergantín, this year the construction of the first two hotels will begin, which will be developed by the Martinón Group, with Spanish capital. Both are in the design phase and will have an investment that is estimated to exceed 180 million dollars. According to preliminary negotiations, the two hotels will operate under the Hyatt Ziva and Hyatt Zilara brands.
Banreservas will also have among its priorities to support investment in the Miches Tourist Complex, where new projects are projected that exceed 735 million dollars between public and private investments, according to estimates announced within the framework of Fitur 2023.
Tribute to the Dominican Republic at Fitur 2024
As part of the Fitur 2024 agenda, Banreservas will also pay “Tribute to Dominicanness” during its traditional cocktail that it offers to investors, tour operators and special guests related to this sector, one of the main generators of foreign currency for the country.
