Punta Cana, La Altagracia, DR. – The “Luna de Sangre” show by Lopesan Costa Bávaro, reached new heights in its ninth edition by staging a 10-act musical production set against a backdrop of 18th and 19th century themes.
Participating in “Luna de Sangre”, the performers donned period, fantasy, and wig costumes, performing an array of both classical and contemporary music, all conducted on a grand stage.
The show was enhanced with the introduction of two innovative acts and international guest performers, including twelve renowned Drag Queens from the area. In total, a team of 70 dancers -40 from the “Caribe Siempre Tuyo” ballet by Lopesan Costa Bávaro- took part in the production.
The musical performance had a duration of 50 minutes, commencing with the opening sequence “Blood Moon-Transformation”, followed by a series of acts named: “Untie Me, Angels and Demons, Queen of the Damned, The Toxic Pink Vampire, Monarch of Hell, Witch Sorceress”, and concluded with “This is Us”.
Roxanna Román, the artistic director of Lopesan Costa Bávaro, produced “Luna de Sangre”. She was aided by a team comprising of choreographer Jhoanna Román Báez, and costume designers Cristian Adolfo de los Santos and Freddy Fernando Gutiérrez.
Carlos Jiménez Ruiz, the director of the Lopesan Hotels Group for the Caribbean region, expressed that “Blood Moon” signifies more than just a Halloween celebration, it embodies respect and equality. The production saw participation from actors and dancers of top caliber, with no regard to their gender.
He elaborated that every year, the talent and passion brought by performers to their roles are paramount, and this is why they are able to captivate the audience gathered in their theater.
It should be noted that the “Blood Moon” show was held to celebrate All Saints’ Eve, more commonly known as Halloween or Witch’s Night. The atmosphere, enigma, and the spectacular costumes sought to recreate the Age of Enlightenment. The show was held at the Lopesan Costa Bávaro theater, often considered the most technologically advanced amongst the country’s tourist spots as well as the Caribbean.
