Businessmen Push for Thorough Tax Reform Through Dialogue – BavaroNews

Local business groups have backed President Luis Abinader’s decision to withdraw the proposed Tax Modernization Law. They advocate for open conversations to shape a reform that boosts the economy and enhances the lives of Dominicans.

Associations such as Conep, AIRD, Aneih, Asibenas, Acoprovi, Anmepro and Aprocovici have voiced their support. Key figures like Osmar Benítez, a leading agricultural figure, and confederations including Copardom, Copymecon, CNCP, Santiago Chamber of Commerce and Production, and Confenagro also expressed their backing.

Conep’s President, Celso Juan Marranzini, appraised the President’s balanced decision during his X account: “His willingness to listen and correct enhances his leadership.” César Dargam, Conep’s executive vice president, pointed out how discussion on the country’s development sustainability must continue, in particular the crucial tax discussions.

The AIRD voiced its readiness to maintain constructive dialogue for future consensus promoting economic growth. Aneih’s president, Euri Andújar, emphasized the need for a progressive tax reform that respects differing productive sector capabilities.

Osmar Benítez suggested finding new resources to fund inclusive country development. Laura Peña Izquierdo of Copardom highlighted the importance of ongoing dialogue amongst sectors to ensure fair reform encouraging stability and growth.

Acoprovi expressed its continuous support for the Government in creating a fair tax system, while CNCP is ready to contribute constructively in creating a proposal that enhances sustainable development in the Dominican Republic.
