Cabo Rojo airport in Dominican Republic seeks design contract

Republic Dominican look for offers to design Cabo Rojo International Airport including the terminal, control tower and emergency building.

Process Dept. Aeroportuario-CCC-LPN-2023-0004 has a reference price of 198mn pesos (US$3.4mn) and the deadline is October 20, when technical proposals will be opened. The opening of bids is scheduled for November 9 and the contract award for November 16.

The launch of the tender was scheduled for June but it was postponed to the end of September.

The master plan of the airport published by APP promotion agency, DGAPP , contemplates the construction of two runways with capacity for 13 commercial flights per hour during peak hours and a terminal building. The airport will also serve cargo flights.

“It is expected that the airports of Las Americas [Santo Domingo] and Punta Cana maintain leadership in this market, and it is likely that the new Pedernales airport will serve the ‘mid-level’ sector,” according to the master plan.

The Cabo Rojo project involves the construction of a tourist complex with more than 3,000 hotel rooms, 300 kilometers from the capital Santo Domingo, on the southwest coast.
