CEPM and CEB Strengthen Security Measures to Ensure Community Safety ahead of Storm Franklin’s Arrival

The CEPM company, and its subsidiary CEB, maintains permanent coordination with the relief forces to maintain safety and well-being in its concession area, as part of its protocols in the hurricane season.

La Altagracia, August 22, 2023 – The Punta Cana-Macao Energy Consortium (CEPM) and its subsidiary Compañía de Electricidad de Bayahíbe (CEB) are carrying out intense efforts in terms of prevention and preparation for the imminent arrival of tropical storm Franklin in the country, expected in the first hours this Wednesday. The CEPM-CEB team has been in constant monitoring and coordination to ensure the safety of its operations and the well-being of the community.

Since the start of the alert, both companies have held follow-up meetings in which various focus areas have been addressed with the aim of guaranteeing the continuity of services and security in their concession area. In this sense, CEPM has collaborated closely with relief institutions and especially with the District Council to strengthen security measures in the community.

One of the highlights of this collaboration has been the assistance provided in terms of power plants and fuel, to ensure power supply in critical areas. In addition, assistance teams have been made available to reinforce security operations and response to any contingency.

To guarantee the safety of its collaborators and clients, the company informed that the commercial offices will remain closed from Tuesday, August 22 at noon and the whole of Wednesday. “We are in permanent contact with our customers through the company’s virtual office and digital channels to assist them at any time. We recommend recharging with sufficient foresight and avoiding travel during these days of alert,” reported Helena Sáenz, senior manager of Communications and Shared Value.

The actions of CEPM and CEB reflect the commitment to safeguard the integrity and well-being of the community in times of natural challenges such as the one looming with storm Franklin. CEPM-CEB reaffirms its responsibility in the maintenance of electrical energy and the contribution to the general welfare of society. This was demonstrated last year with the passage of Hurricane Fiona when 90% of the service was restored in less than 36 hours.

Along these same lines, CEPM-CEB has also carried out specific measures in each of its divisions with the aim of mitigating the possible impacts of the storm. In the generation, distribution and transmission of energy, exhaustive inspections of facilities have been carried out and measures have been taken to guarantee the integrity of the infrastructures, including the mobilization of personnel to carry out detailed inspections.

On the other hand, the company has maintained constant communication with its customers and the community in general through different channels to provide updated information and precautionary measures. The safety, health and well-being of all those involved continues to be CEPM-CEB’s top priority at this time and they are prepared to deal with any setbacks quickly.

For more information and updates, it is recommended to follow CEPM’s official social networks and stay informed through the company’s communication channels.
