The Dominican Republic once again surpassed its own February record by 19 percent with the arrival of 1,057,216 visitors.
This was reported this Thursday by the Minister of Tourism, David Collados, when presenting the results of the industry during the month of February of this year at the institution's headquarters, during a new podcast.
He reported that the country received 755,832 tourists by air alone in the month of February, which represents a growth of 14 percent more than in the same month last year, 33% compared to 2022 and 25% compared to 2022. to 2019.
Minister Collado said that this notable growth was also recorded by sea with the visit in February of 301,384 cruise passengers, with the Taino Bay port being where the largest number arrived with 117,876 passengers, Amber Cove 90,089, followed by La Romana 69,136, Isla Catalina 10,153 and Santo Domingo 2,016.
He pointed out that this arrival of cruise passengers in February represents an increase of 19% compared to the same month last year, 208% compared to 2022 and 159% compared to 2019.
“Incredible. We broke our own records again. 1,057,216 visitors in the month of February alone,” highlighted Minister Collado.
The arrival of non-resident tourists by air did so through the Punta Cana airport 59.7%, Las Américas 21%, Cibao 9.5%.
Collado predicted that at the end of the year the country will receive more than 11 million visitors.
He also reported that the situation in Haiti has not affected tourism in the Dominican Republic in any way.
He predicted for this year the best winter season that tourism has ever recorded in its entire history.
