Santo Domingo.- The Minister of Industry and Commerce, Víctor Ito Bisonó, states that the Dominican side of the border with Haiti is open to trade, but they are waiting for the Haitian government to reciprocate.
Bisonó does not have control over the decision of whether or not Haitian goods cross the border. However, he notes that some trade has resumed in recent weeks.
The government aims to find alternative markets for products previously sold to Haiti, thus increasing exports to other countries in the region.
In response to the businessmen’s complaints, Bisonó mentions that they maintain permanent communication with them to address possible problems.
