Punta Cana, RD.- Now that the 2023/24 winter season has entered, the Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) once again presents an increase in the arrival of international flights. Specifically, for this week the PUJ will receive 541 international connections, 13 flights more than last week when it registered 528 arrivals.
According to weekly reports issued by the Eastern Airport Corporation, flights have been showing considerable increases since mid-November. The connections that are growing the most are those from Canada, the United States and South America.
The hasty arrival of winter to the northern hemisphere is causing interest and a great increase in flights to our sun and beach vacation destination, with New York in the United States being the city with the most connections to Punta Cana with 65, followed by Atlanta with 47 and Newark, NJ with 45.
Canada
An increase in flights is also reported from Canada, led by Toronto (YYZ) with 61 flights, including the 3 new flights of the airline Flair Airlines that began this week. Montreal (YUL) follows with 37 and from Quebec (YQB) there are 7 connections. In addition, direct flights continue from other cities such as Halifax, Vancouver; Edmonton, Ottawa, Calgary and Hamilton.
South America
South America also has a large number of connections, with Panama City (PTY) leading with 45 flights, Bogotá (BOG) with 20 and Medellín (MDE) maintaining 11 connections. Lima (LIM) increased its direct flights with Punta Cana to 21; Caracas (CCS) and Buenos Aires (EZE) maintain 2, and San Pablo (GRU), Guayaquil (GYE) and Quito (UIO) maintain 1 connection.
Europe
Europe also contributed to this increase in flights to Punta Cana Airport since this week new Lot Polish flights were added, which now presents 3 direct flights from Warsaw and 1 from Prague, Czech Republic. From London (LGW) connections increase to 5, 3 from British and 2 from TUI Airways, and from Manchester (MAN) the 3 weekly TUI Airways flights remain, among the highlights.
