PUNTA CANA. In the Dominican Republic there are a total of 4 million 418.619 million homes, an amount that almost doubles the 2.6 million homes that existed from the beginning of the republican life until 2010.
This is revealed by the preliminary data from the National Population and Housing Census, revealed today by the National Statistics Office (ONE).
ONE affirms that, according to the investigation, more than half are occupied. Regarding home occupation, the number also increased considerably, going from 2 million 130,616 occupied homes to 3 million 689,348 homes in 2022, yielding a difference of one million 558,732.
According to data found by the National Population and Housing Census of the year 2022, the construction sector has become the second economic activity in the country, representing this for the year 2019, 12% of the Gross Domestic Product, indicators that have been increasing according to economic sectors.
