Verón–Punta Cana. In a decisive move to reduce traffic jams in one of the Dominican Republic’s busiest tourism hubs, General Pascual Cruz Méndez, head of the General Directorate of Traffic Safety and Land Transportation (Digesett), carried out an on-the-ground supervision and diagnostic tour across Verón–Punta Cana.

Joined by Mayor Ramón Antonio Ramírez, Intrant’s regional director Félix de la Rosa, Intraf’s Igor Souza, Asoleste president Ernesto Veloz, and Digesett’s deputy planning director Alejandro Piñeyro, the team mapped out congestion hotspots and defined coordinated measures with the municipal government, the private sector, and national mobility agencies. Using drone technology, the delegation captured aerial views of critical choke points to guide immediate and longer-term interventions aimed at improving traffic flow and road safety.

Officials underscored the urgency of tackling the most problematic intersections and corridors with solutions that are both actionable now and sustainable over time—vital for a district that serves thousands of workers, residents, and visitors daily. As part of the agenda, General Cruz Méndez met with business leaders Frank Rainieri and Frank Elías Rainieri, president and CEO of Grupo Puntacana, to align on strategies for mobility management and road safety. The Rainieri leadership welcomed the proactive stance, highlighting the need to elevate road safety education and invest in resilient infrastructure.

To close the meeting, Digesett presented the Rainieri family with its official pin, recognizing their longstanding commitment to improving mobility and traffic safety in the Punta Cana region.
