The International Tourism Fair (Fitur 2024) began this Wednesday at the Ifema fairgrounds in Madrid, Spain, with the visit of His Majesty King Juan Carlos and Queen Letizia

The Ministry of Tourism, banks and private companies formalized different agreements to support the development of tourism in the Dominican Republic. Due to the massive attendance, the country projects great success.

With the inauguration of the International Tourism Fair (Fitur 2024) in Madrid, Spain, the Dominican Republic achieved important recognitions. Private sector business appointment cubicles remained packed.

The Caribbean country exhibited a large stand decorated with the Dominican flag. The Dominican singer Eddy Herrera sang the National Anthem at the beginning of the event. A cubicle dedicated to sports was presented as a novelty.

Both the Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), Zurab Pololikashvili, and the President of the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), Julia Simpson, highlighted the growth of Dominican tourism and praised the work of the Government and from the Minister of Tourism, David Collado.

“It is an honor to be a guest at the best stand in all of Fitur,” said Simpson.

Minister Collado pointed out that Dominican tourism has grown more than 33%. and he highlighted the goal achieved of 10 million 306 thousand visitors in 2023.

Sports

Sports tourism was launched with the participation of important businessmen such as Juan Vicini, Frank Elías Rainieri and Manuel Estrella.

In addition, the creation of the Dominican House for Paris and the PGA in Punta Cana were announced.

The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) announced that it will be called UN Tourism, according to international press reports.

More than 9,000 companies and 152 countries participate in Fitur 2024. The fair is dedicated this year as a partner country to Ecuador.
