The Science and Art Foundation, led by directors José Serulle Ramia and Jacqueline Boin, proudly presented the Twenty-Seventh Ecotourism and Production Fair. This event aims to showcase and promote the community of El Cercado in the San Juan de El Valle region.
The main objective is to transform ecotourism and sustainable production into viable avenues for economic, social, cultural, and environmental progress in the Dominican Republic communities. The ultimate goal is to promote comprehensive development throughout the region.
José Serulle highlighted the potential of ecotourism as a development alternative that doesn’t require large financial investments. He explained the idea that communities, in collaboration with local businesses, can establish eco-lodges and create trails to visit attractions such as spas, utilizing the area’s natural treasures.
This outstanding event is scheduled from November 16 to 26 under the motto: “For the preservation of the Neiba Mountain Range and the rational management of the Macasías-Artibonito Basin sub-basin! For sustainable agriculture and comprehensive development!”
Jacqueline Boin emphasized that these fairs have a purpose beyond showcasing the beauty of a region. They serve as platforms to facilitate community development and attract attention from relevant authorities. Key objectives include stimulating the local economy and ensuring equitable distribution among community members. Additionally, there is a commitment to expand and improve agricultural practices in the region.
José Serulle highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts to achieve these objectives. He emphasized the need to create awareness within the community and stressed that “divided we will not achieve anything.” The fair serves as a catalyst, but the true aspiration is for people to unite, improve living conditions, and recognize the intrinsic value of their natural and cultural resources.
