DR’s Hotel Industry Surges as 3,000 New Rooms Set to Open by 2024

The boom experienced by the Dominican tourism industry is highlighted, especially its hotel offering with projects from brands of great international prestige. Asonahores anticipates that by 2024 the country's hotel plant will add 3,000 new rooms. “In 2024, it is expected that some 3,000 hotel rooms will be formally inaugurated, in projects that are being developed in Punta Cana and Miches,” said the president of Asonahores, David Llibre. The director of the largest tourism union in the country also referred to the hotel growth that will be recorded in the short term in Puerto Plata and Santo Domingo. Llibre recalled that “in Puerto Plata they are going to start two new projects in Punta Bergantín, one with the family Rainieri and another with the chain Hyatt. In addition, we will learn about new projects that are in the process of negotiation in the future.” (Meliá, “perfect ally” of Rainieri in his commitment to Puerto Plata).
