SANTO DOMINGO.- Construction entrepreneurs from La Altagracia province approached the Government. They stressed the need for road infrastructure in the eastern region of the country. It’s to support the growth of the key tourist hub of the Dominican Republic.
The group, part of the La Altagracia Tourism Business Alliance, met Vice President Raquel Peña. They discussed ways to bolster Bávaro-Punta Cana’s development.
José Sánchez, the Alliance’s president and head of the Sánchez Business & Corp., emphasized improvements. Traits such as road infrastructure, a modern aqueduct, and wastewater system upgrades are vital.

“We aim for sustainable maintenance of foreign and local investment in the real estate and tourism sectors. It continues to be vital for hospitality, tourism, and national economic growth,” the businessman highlighted.
He acknowledged the president and vice president’s recent decision to withdraw the tax reform proposal. He declared it a “clear example of democracy and listening”.
A press release shared that Alliance members have developed over 65,000 rooms in the area. They aim to construct 100,000 homes in the coming seven years, surpassing $12 billion in investments.
The undertaking would generate more than 65,000 direct and indirect jobs. They foresee constant growth in one of the Caribbean’s most popular tourist destinations.
The meet-up at the National Palace aimed to discuss Verón, Bávaro-Punta Cana area’s challenges. It included topics related to project permits, area investments, and prominence in order to maintain economic and social growth.
The meeting included Senator Rafael Duluc from La Altagracia and representatives from various companies. They make up 70% of investments in Bávaro-Punta Cana. It has become a significant growth engine for the region and country.
