SANTO DOMINGO.- In La Altagracia province, construction business owners addressed the Government. They highlighted the need for stronger infrastructure to accommodate growth. Their focus was on the Dominican Republic’s main tourist center.
These contractors are part of the La Altagracia Tourism Business Alliance. The group recently met with Vice President Raquel Peña. They discussed how to bolster the Bávaro-Punta Cana development.
The Alliance president, José Sánchez, underlined the need for better infrastructure. He suggested a modern aqueduct and a stronger wastewater treatment system.

“Our goal is to maintain local and foreign investment sustainably. It’s crucial for hospitality, tourism, and national economic growth,” emphasized the businessman.
He also acknowledged the president and vice president. He praised their decision to withdraw a recent tax reform proposal. He described this action as “listening and democracy.”
The Alliance members have created over 65,000 rooms in the area. They are planning 100,000 housing units within seven years. The projected investment exceeds 12 billion dollars.
This project is expected to create more than 65,000 direct and indirect jobs. It aims for substantial growth in one of the top Caribbean tourist destinations.
The meeting hosted in the National Palace addressed the Verón and Bávaro-Punta Cana area’s challenges. They discussed project permits, local investments, and priority projects for economic and social growth.
The meeting also included senator Rafael Duluc and representatives from various firms. These companies represent about 70% of the investments in Bávaro-Punta Cana. They are a driving force for regional and national economic growth.
